What are you Grateful for?
The very first traditional Thanksgiving was held at the Plymouth Plantation in 1621. The celebration became an important part of American tradition by the 1800’s. It finally became an American holiday in 1941.
The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in giving thanks to God for helping the Pilgrims survive the brutal winter. The feast lasted for three days with enough food for 53 Pilgrims and 90 Indians.
With the down turn of the American Economy and the War over seas, a lot of people may think they have nothing to be grateful for. Millions of people have lost their jobs, their homes, their loved ones. As sad as that is, if you think really hard, down deep you can still find a lot to be grateful for.
In some foreign countries, if people can not pay their debt a warrant goes out for their arrest and they are thrown in jail. Their passports are seized and they can no longer leave the country. Other places their things go up for public auction, right out of their house in front of all their neighbors. Others have a band of thugs sent to their homes to beat the debt out of them and are publicly humiliated.
You may say, so what, we do not live in foreign countries, we live in America. What happens to them has nothing to do with us. My answer is, you are right, but my point is, that is one of the most important things you can be grateful for. If you are an American you are given the choice to celebrate Thanksgiving.
I am going to celebrate this Thanksgiving by being grateful to be an American. That I have great health, that I have my family and a roof over my head with food on the table. There are many, many more things in my life to be grateful for. I truly think if you think long and hard you can find things to be grateful for also.
The fact that you are reading this means you are able to see. The fact that you even found this means you at least have a computer or a friend or family member has one. Life is all about finding things to be grateful for and believing in yourself. No matter where you are from, what color or nationality, be grateful you are who YOU are!
My wish to everyone, Happy Thanksgiving and To Your Success!
